Kinda Chic: Why Natural Results in Aesthetic Medicine Are Becoming More Important

Perfect lips, extremely sharp jawlines, completely smooth foreheads and faces where you can tell at first glance that «something has been done» – this is exactly what the beauty world is beginning to move away from again.

There is currently a lot of talk on social media about «Kinda Chic». The term describes a look that does not appear overly perfect, but rather effortless, individual and somewhat understated. Applied to aesthetic medicine, this idea fits very well with a development we have been observing for some time: patients want fresh, well-groomed and attractive results, but not faces that look obviously treated.

The interesting thing is that naturalness does not mean that aesthetic treatments are no longer taking place. Quite the opposite. A particularly harmonious and well-rested appearance is often the result of a very targeted medical-aesthetic strategy. The only difference is that it should not be immediately noticeable.

The goal is not to prompt the question: «What have you had done?» Instead, the impression should be: «You simply look really good and well-rested.»

Moving away from the «Instagram face»

Recent years have been strongly influenced by highly visible aesthetic trends. Voluminous lips, strongly contoured cheeks, pronounced jawlines and faces with as few wrinkles as possible were increasingly reinforced by social media and celebrity role models. At the same time, faces emerged that sometimes looked surprisingly similar.

This is precisely where the countertrend begins. Beauty is becoming more individual again. Small asymmetries are allowed to remain, facial expressions should still be visible and a face does not have to look perfectly symmetrical. Instead of perfection, the focus is shifting towards freshness, radiance and naturalness.

For aesthetic medicine, this means that it is less about changing a face. What matters much more is respecting existing structures, preserving proportions and specifically improving signs of tiredness or skin ageing.

«We are currently seeing a clear shift in aesthetic medicine», explains Dr. med. Nikolaus Linde, founder of BEAUTYCLINIC. «Patients no longer want an obvious result, but rather a harmonious overall appearance that is not recognisable as a treatment.»

Why skin quality is becoming more important than volume

One major change concerns the treatment strategy itself. While volume was often the main focus in the past, skin quality is now becoming increasingly important. Smooth, elastic and radiant skin can make a face look considerably fresher without changing its natural structure.

Instead of using more and more filler, the focus is increasingly shifting towards regenerative treatments and approaches that improve skin quality. Depending on the individual situation, these may include skin boosters, collagen stimulation, laser treatments, radiofrequency, ultrasound or other procedures designed to improve skin structure.

These methods do not all pursue the same goal. Some improve hydration and glow, while others stimulate collagen processes or support skin firmness. What they have in common, however, is a modern approach: rather than treating individual wrinkles alone, the aim is to improve the overall quality of the tissue.

This focus on skin quality fits particularly well with natural aesthetics. When the skin looks fresh, even and elastic, less volume is often needed to achieve a harmonious result.

Botox remains, but its use is becoming more subtle

Botox is not disappearing with this trend either. However, the way it is used is changing. Instead of completely blocking every muscle movement, treatment is increasingly performed in a very precise and restrained way.

The goal is no longer a completely smooth, rigid face, but rather a relaxed and fresh expression. Facial expressions remain intact, small movements are still visible and the face does not appear frozen.

In practice, this means that dosage, placement and treatment goals are planned more individually. The aim is not to remove personality from the face, but to specifically soften unwanted tension, tired-looking features or deep expression lines.

A modern Botox treatment should therefore not look «done». Ideally, it should look as though you have slept well, experienced less stress or simply have a fresher appearance.

Fillers: Less filling, more precise planning

The shift is also clearly visible when it comes to fillers. In the past, the main question was often where volume could be added. Today, the more important question is often: Where is volume actually needed – and where is it better avoided?

Fillers can be very useful when volume has been lost, proportions need to be improved or certain areas need to be harmonised. At the same time, too much filler or incorrectly placed volume can make a face appear heavier, wider or unnatural.

Natural filler treatments therefore focus on restraint and precision. Small amounts can be sufficient when used strategically. The aim is not to change as much as possible, but to preserve the balance of the face.

In the spirit of «Kinda Chic», a good result does not stand out because a particular facial feature has been visibly altered. It stands out because the face as a whole looks fresher, more harmonious and more rested.

Lips: A return to proportion and naturalness

Few areas demonstrate this shift as clearly as the lips. Heavily overfilled, strongly projected lips are increasingly losing their appeal. Instead, the focus is returning to proportion, contour and natural hydration.

In practice, this often means less volume and more attention to detail. The goal is a lip that suits the face and does not stand out as a separate treatment.

Sometimes this also means taking a critical look at existing filler. If the lips appear overfilled or their natural shape has been lost, it may make sense not to add more filler but instead to discuss a more natural solution.

«The lip should look like a lip again, not like a treatment», says Dr. med. Nikolaus Linde. «For us, this is a central aspect of modern aesthetic medicine.»

The new luxury: Not being recognised

Perhaps this is the most interesting aspect of the trend. For a long time, visible aesthetic changes were a status symbol for some people. Today, the opposite is developing into the new luxury: a good result that nobody recognises as a treatment.

This often requires more medical sensitivity than creating obvious changes. Treating subtly means knowing exactly when enough is enough and when less is more.

Not every wrinkle needs to be removed. Not every area of the face needs volume. And not every face needs to be «optimised».

Modern aesthetic medicine therefore does not mean pursuing a fashionable standardised face. It means supporting a person's own appearance and planning changes in a way that suits their individual anatomy.

Why natural results are more difficult than they look

An understated result may sound simple. In practice, however, it is demanding.

Subtle treatment requires very precise analysis: Which change would actually help? Where can something be corrected? Where should nothing deliberately be done? And which treatment is best suited to the face?

Sometimes Botox is the right solution. Sometimes it is a skin booster. Sometimes a laser treatment, radiofrequency or a collagen-stimulating therapy is more appropriate. And sometimes the best decision is not to treat immediately at all, but first to improve skincare, sun protection or a long-term strategy.

Especially when natural results are the goal, combining several small steps is often more effective than making one major change.

The body is following the same trend

This development is not limited to the face. A similar shift can also be seen in body treatments. Extreme changes are moving into the background, while natural contours, skin quality and a firm, healthy-looking appearance are becoming more important.

After weight loss or pregnancy, for example, the focus is no longer solely on removing fat. Increasing attention is also being paid to how the skin adapts to the new contours.

Modern procedures such as radiofrequency, laser treatments or minimally invasive tightening techniques fit perfectly into this new understanding. Here too, the aim is not to change as much as possible, but to achieve harmonious proportions, improve skin quality and create a result that suits the individual's body.

Why Kinda Chic could be more than a short-lived social media moment

Beauty trends come and go. But Kinda Chic reflects an idea that has been relevant in aesthetic medicine for some time: patients today are better informed, more critical and more sensitive to exaggerated results.

They want to look younger, but not different. They want to look fresh, but not «done». And they want to benefit from modern aesthetic medicine without it being immediately visible.

Perhaps Kinda Chic is therefore less of a medical trend and more of a social media term for something many people have wanted for a long time: to look well-groomed, but not artificial. To look attractive, but not standardised. To be able to have something done without looking as though something has been «done» afterwards.

Our conclusion

Kinda Chic fits well with a development that is increasingly shaping modern aesthetic medicine: less overcorrection, more naturalness, greater emphasis on skin quality and more respect for individual anatomy.

The goal is not to become someone else. The goal is to be the best version of yourself – fresher, more harmonious and effortlessly beautiful.

At BEAUTYCLINIC, we therefore focus on individually planned treatments rather than standardised looks. Whether Botox, fillers, skin boosters, laser, radiofrequency or collagen-stimulating procedures: the decisive factor is always what suits the face, the skin quality and the individual's personal wishes.

Because the best aesthetic treatment is often the one that is not immediately recognisable as a treatment.
